I was on my way to school one hot Saturday morning with the usual habit; earphones on, mind running away from the unpleasant noise of the world. Long before, I made this playlist that brings out all the feels inside of me. It has songs from Coldplay to The Fray and even One Direction. I was listening to this one song by The Fray when it literally struck me; how does one save a life? How does one save a life if a certain person doesn't even scream for salvation? How will you know if a person wears an invisible I need help banner on his forehead when that person doesn't even show any bruises from the outside? How?
The truth is no one knows. No one really knows what's running inside every human beings' mind. No one knows if their minds have a ticking time bomb, if their thoughts are exploding, if their bodies are slowly drifting away from the great unknown. No one knows if they have already set deadlines for themselves. NO ONE KNOWS.
I guess that's the most bllsht thing in this world; not knowing anything about anyone at all. Human beings are one helluva complex social animal.
I'm unaware of myself either but I'm quite sure that we are all headed into the multiplying unknown. You are not the sole person who needs redemption from where we're all headed. Everyone needs help. Everyone needs someone to be with in every single step of the way. We are all broken kids in our own way. We are all lost in this realm of infinite impossibilities and we're all yet to be found. We are all yet to make the impossible turn into something our bare hands can hold. No one's an exception.
So how does one really save a life? I'm not quite sure about that but as the song suggests; Lay down a list of what is wrong // The things you've told him all along // Pray to God, he hears you // And pray to God he hears you. I guess if you just lend a shoulder to cry on to someone today, it can actually help someone (somehow) eradicate that large mass inside their brains that keeps on eating them alive. You can save a life by at least having 'the idea' that every single person in this world needs help. Just be there for them. Just by hearing some of the stories from my blockmates last Saturday in our introductory speech, I can assure you that everyone goes through different shts.
This song was actually written by The Fray's lead singer when he experienced working at a camp for troubled youths. He met this 17 year old kid who had serious problems. No one could actually write a manual on how to save him, so he wrote a song.
If you happen to know someone who might've been suffering from a mental health illness, just be there for them, support them, understand them. The social stigma attached to mental health illness has always been one of the reasons why people tend to hide inside their shells. Please never judge them. I feel like I'm very opinionated when it comes to this kind of issue; maybe because my father used to suffer from it, same as my ultimate favorite female singer. I've also always wanted to take up Psychology to understand people more. :)
So Hey, if you're having a bad day, just smile. :)
