I am not a big fan of girl groups but I guess this one's an exception. Little Mix is definitely different from any other girl groups out there. I am not saying that they're the best girl group but I feel like all the ingridients of a girl group were sprinkled over these talented young ladies making them this generation's definition of what a girl group should be. They don't seek attention or dramas like what people think about when they hear the words 'Girl Group'.
With this third record, Little Mix showcased not only their wide range vocal capacities but also their vapid, valley pop vibe that brings out more personality from each of the members of the band.
Get Weird features a mixture of fun and bop tracks as well as heartbreakingly-beautiful ballads that are definitely gonna bring us back to the music in the past, present and even in the future generation. Their first single Black Magic was a major hit, which to be honest was a very good choice for a debut single. It actually made me anticipate for what they have in store in their full length record. And I wasn't disappointed at all.
My personal favorites are Secret Love Song and Love Me Or Leave Me. I actually feel like these songs highlighted the growth of this foursome over the past few years. The maturity and rawness of these two tracks made them look like they aren't a song of a typical girl group. Clued Up is also on my list of favorites because of its acoustic vibes that reminds me of a Disney soundtrack. It's the kind of song that you can listen to after a long tiring day.
On the other hand, some of the bop songs from the record can't find a way out of my system. Hair and I Won't are some of these catchy bop songs that really had my feet and fingers tapping. Weird People also sounds like a song that's meant to be on a broadway or a musical film. It actually kind of reminded of the song A Night to Remember from the movie High School Musical. It has nothing impressive to show off but it's a feel good song that could definitely shake off the stress our bodies.
Get Weird isn't the album of the year by any means. What's impressive with this record is that it made Little Mix find their footing in the pop music industry. They've finally begun to walk the walk, but for the most part, Get Weird just became the strongest record in their library. Giving it a 7.5/10 ratings.
